Touch ‘n Go Group in collaboration with Yayasan Hijau Malaysia will plant a batch of actual trees for every virtual tree donated by the public
Touch ‘n Go Group announced yesterday that it is collaborating with Yayasan Hijau Malaysia in launching the Mission GreenPossible: 100 Million Trees by 2025 campaign.
The campaign aims to plant 100 million trees by 2025 while contributing to environmental conservation efforts.
The launch was held at Glasshouse at Seputeh, Kuala Lumpur.
The event was officiated by Dato’ Indera Mohd Ridza Bin Awang, Director General, Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia, Alan Ni, Chief Executive Officer of TNG Digital Sdn Bhd and Amin Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Hijau Malaysia.
As part of this collaboration, users can donate to the cause seamlessly and paperlessly by using the Touch ‘n Go eWallet mobile application. Each donation will help to grow a virtual tree, which can be viewed and tracked on the campaign’s dedicated app or website.
Yayasan Hijau Malaysia, under the supervision of its lead agency, the Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia, will plant a batch of actual trees for every 100 per cent grown virtual trees.
After the first batch of actual trees is planted, the virtual tree will restart to allow users to grow more virtual trees and drive the planting of more actual trees.
Touch ‘n Go Group has pledged to join the Malaysian public and donate in its efforts to make Malaysia a greener place for future generations. The mission is to rally Malaysians to donate and work together to protect Mother Nature.
The Mission GreenPossible: 100 Million Trees by 2025 campaign supports the Touch ‘n Go Group’s sustainability framework, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. At the same time, the campaign aims to support efforts to preserve and capture carbon in established carbon sinks through efforts such as reforestation, mangrove restoration, and ecosystem preservation.
The campaign is part of The Greening Malaysia Programme, a national action plan launched on January 5, 2021. The 5-year initiative, with the theme “Our Trees, Our Life,” aims to cover 54 per cent of Malaysia’s land area with forest.
The programme has resulted in the planting of 46 million trees from over 1,300 species across the country. – CITIZENS JOURNAL
