  • KUALA LUMPUR (13 OCTOBER 2017) – The closing ceremony of the Karnival Inovasi Teknologi Hijau 2017 programme was officiated by HE Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC). The carnival was held for a duration of 3 days from 11 – 13 October at 2 locations: KLCC and Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (MGTC), Bangi. The programme saw participants from 16 states including W.P. Labuan, W.P. Kuala Lumpur and W.P. Putrajaya. Each contingent was represented by a State Education Department official, team manager, teacher and the secondary students involved in the programme.

    The Karnival Inovasi Teknologi Hijau 2017 programme was organized as a collaboration between the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA), YaHijau, the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) and the Centre for Education, Training & Research in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CETREE). For the carnival, several competitions at a national level were held with the elements of Green Technology.

    7 different categories of competitions were held for the students, which were: Pertandingan Reka Cipta Inovasi Teknologi Hijau, Pertandingan Reka Bentuk Bandar Teknologi Hijau, Pertandingan Inovasi Tenaga Biojisim, Pertandingan Green Technology Show, Green Cooker Challenge, Pertandingan Solar Vehicle Challenge, dan Xplorace Teknologi Hijau & Kuiz Teknologi Hijau.

  • Program Voluntourism Gegar Keningau and Jelajah Yahijau Sabah Siri Ketiga: Keningau in Conjunction with Malaysia Day 2017

    KENINGAU (17 SEPTEMBER 2017) – The third series for the Jelajah YaHijau Sabah program was held in Padang Bandaran Keningau, Keningau, Sabah. Organized by YaHijau, this program was in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA), the District Office of Keningau and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC).

    This third series is quite unique, as it was the effective result of combining two programs held in Keningau into one event. Through this joint venture, the ‘Program Voluntourism Gegar Keningau and Jelajah YaHijau Sabah Siri Ketiga: Keningau’ in conjunction with Malaysia Day 2017 was officiated by The Honorable Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah / Minister of Infrastructure Development, Sabah and Member of Parliament P.180 Keningau.

    The ‘Voluntourism Gegar Keningau and Jelajah YaHijau Sabah Siri Ketiga: Keningau’ Program in conjunction with Malaysia Day’ was held during a 4-day event from 14 – 17 September 2017. Various fun activities were held for the public, such as: community sports, Battle of the Bands, Gegar Keningau Concert, modern dance and singing competitions and so on.

    Present at the program were The Honorable Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, The Honorable Datuk Haji Sairin Bin Haji Karno, Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Sabah and State Legislative Assembly Member N34 Liawan, Mr. Haji Yusop bin Haji Osman, District Officer of Keningau and Mr. Amin Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Hijau Malaysia.

  • Jelajah YaHijau Sabah Siri Kedua: Tenom

    TENOM (19 AUGUST 2017) – HE Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) officiated the second series of the Jelajah YaHijau Sabah Program in OKK Sanggau Jalang Hall, Melalap, Tenom, Sabah. This program is the continuation of the first series of the Jelajah YaHijau Sabah Program which was held in Matunggong, Sabah on 15 July 2017. Held between 8am to 2pm, various activities were conducted for approximately 800 participants including students and the public such as aerobics, Green Pocket talk, flea market, School Innovation Contest, the ever-popular Lucky Draw and sport competitions.

  • Jelajah YaHijau Sabah Siri Pertama: Matunggong

    KUDAT (15 JULY 2017) – HE Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) has officially launched the first series of the Jelajah YaHijau Sabah Program in Kampung Radtak Hall, Matunggong, Kudat, Sabah. The program was attended by an estimate of 1,000 people and the activities held were assisted by 27 communities around the district of Matunggong.

    The Jelajah YaHijau Sabah program was organized by Yayasan Hijau Malaysia (YaHijau) in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA). This year, the theme for the program is, “Celebrating Unity Through Green” and aims to promote awareness and educating the public, especially youth, about the importance of adopting green lifestyles and introducing them to the applications of green technology. This is the second year of the Jelajah YaHijau Program, which was first held last year in 8 locations across Sarawak and with more than 9,000 participants.

    This year, Tenaga Nasional Berhad is also working with YaHijau as its main strategic partner, supported by the Department of National Unity and Integration for the success of the Jelajah YaHijau Sabah program.

    LABUAN (18 FEBRUARY 2017) – HE Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Johnity Maximus Ongkili, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water officiated the ‘Mesra Rakyat Komuniti Labuan’ & ‘Inovasi Hijau Pemacu Perpaduan-Jiranku Keluargaku’ Programs at Perkarangan Balai raya Kampung Kilan, Pulau Akar. More than 500 participants from communities around Labuan attended the program.

    Some of the exciting activities & competitions during the program were: Unity Walk for Harmony, Tamu Rukun Tetangga, a Creativity and Green Innovation Competition held for school students, Unity Urban Farming Competition, a Family Colouring Competition and more.

    In conjunction with this program, the delivery of checks was also held for for the ‘Green Corner Development’ to 25 Unity Kindergarten (TP) classes around Labuan. The purpose of the ‘Green Corner Development’ is to encourage learning and introduction to green technology applications about the elements of energy, water, transport and buildings amongst the schoolchildren.

    Present at the program were: HE Datuk Rozman bin Datuk Haji Isli, Member of Parliament, Labuan, and Chairman of Labuan Corporation, YBhg. Dato ‘Seri Ir.   • Karnival YaHijau Langkawi 2016

    KUAH, LANGKAWI (15 OCTOBER 2016) – HE Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water officially launched the Karnival YaHijau Langkawi 2016 programme at the De Baron Resort in Kuah, Langkawi, Kedah. The 2-day carnival was visited by over 5,000 attendees from local communities, students from schools and educational institutions, government agencies, industry players and tourists.

    The Karnival YaHijau Langkawi 2016 programme was organized by Yayasan Hijau Malaysia (YaHijau) in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA), and the Kedah State Government. The carnival focused on efforts to promote and enhance the public’s understanding and interest in green lifestyle practices and green technology applications, whilst also promoting green technology among the people, especially at the grassroots level.

    In conjunction with the Karnival YaHijau Langkawi 2016, HE Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili also launched the ‘Kedah Green Agenda’. The Agenda lists 14 initiatives or ‘green actions’ to be implemented in the State of Kedah to ensure that it is placed as one of the best models in Malaysia in implementing a green technology development agenda. This is so that the Kedah state develops in a green and sustainable environment with a healthy community and increasing economic growth.

    During the event, the certificate of appointment of the Green Auditing Program to 28 schools in Langkawi was also conducted. The Green Auditing Program aims to identify and assess the level of resource management towards improving the efficiency and utilization of electricity, water, consumables (such as paper, ink, printer and office waste) in schools. The program aims to create a baseline for eco-friendly school management.
